London South Bank University is one of London's largest and oldest universities.
Over the past five years it has invested over £60m in modern facilities that support and develop students throughout their studies.
McLaren House is situated in the heart of London and provides accommodation for students with 600 ensuite rooms and 86 flats.
The building has Cat6a structured cabling infrastructure which was installed to meet the foreseeable needs of the building for many years. One of those needs was TV distribution with a requirement to be able to view Freeview TV and radio channels on Freeview Ready TV screens in common and recreation areas.
LSBU asked their cable infrastructure installer - GW Multimedia - to investigate how this could be done using the installed cat6a cabling. GW Multimedia turned to Klicktv for a solution.
It was decided that the Klicktv RF over cat5 solution would be the most appropriate. Klicktv supplied a RF-cat5 hub and RF-cat5 receivers for GW Multimedia to install and arranged a site visit by a Klicktv engineer to commission the installation alongside GW Multimedia personnel.
London south Bank University now has a highly cost effective and expandable RF over cat5 TV distribution system which capitalises on the investment in their cat6a cable infrastructure.
